What a strange accessory of fashion this bit of fabric is!
This week I attended a conference and found myself in the middle of a conversation with three men who were discussing trends in ties both in color, pattern and width!! They were saying how often they needed to replace ties that had become out dated and they needed to buy the NEW trendy colors! I have been in the industry so long and never realized that there was in fact anything other than strips, plain, and paisley designs with the varying widths every few years as trends.
You learn something every day! I had no idea men were tuned in to tie trends. I was shocked to learn this, from these much younger men. I will be doing much more careful trend tie watching from now on!
I am flying to NY tomorrow so I will make it my assignment while there to check the tie trends of the New Yorkers as they are a much more tie orientated city than LA.
Personally, I find the tie to be a very odd non functioning accessory, but maybe it is men’s only method of making a statement of who they are. However, who am I, as a woman to say what is strange when you consider the odd trends we have followed!
